SwiftReg will facilitate your company’s application to register with PSIRA for Security accreditation. It is a complex process which takes time but we are here to guide and support you through it.
PSIRA registration for a company is R6750 and non-refundable. HOWEVER there are a multitude of expenses that you will need to fund before you can register your company with PSIRA.
We recommend a minimum of R50,000 to start a security business.

Document gathering – SwiftReg gathers all of the relevant documents from you

What is PSiRA?
PSIRA is the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority. It is a State Owned Entity mandated to regulate all aspects of the security industry in South Africa. This includes security guards, locksmiths, installers and manufactures of security equipment.

What qualifications do the directors need to operate a security company??
All the directors of the security company must complete grade B security certification from an authorised training centre before the company can be registered.
Can foreigners obtain a PSIRA certificate?
No, only individuals with South African ID numbers can apply for PSiRA accreditation. You will also need a Police Clearance Certificate which includes fingerprints.
How long is a PSIRA Certificate valid for?
Individual certificates expires after 24 months
Business certificates expire after 12 months
How do I track my business application?
Log on to the PSIRA website and click on Business Status verification; enter your company name and the capture code.
What are the PSiRA Requirements to renew a business certificate?
A letter on the letterhead of the business requesting the renewal
All the annual fees must be paid in full
Tax clearance certificate as the company must be tax compliant
If the business has employees then the company is required to be registered for COID.
Must the individual certificate be collected in person?
Yes since the individual’s fingerprints are required to print the certificate they can only be collected in person.
Must I make an appointment to collect my certificate?
Yes, absolutely. You will need to schedule an appointment either online of via the mobile app or you will be turned away at the branch.
